The pressure granulation of dolomite decarbonates for the production of refractory materials

Decarbonated dolostones of Brudzowice, Ząbkowice, Żelatowa and Ołdrzychowice deposits were moulded under the following pressures: 20, 50 and 200 MPa. Authors found a significant impact of the moulding pressure in the hydration of pellets burnt at three various temperatures:1550, 1600 and1650oC. The highest resistance to hydration showed the samples obtained from Triassic dolostone of Brudzowice. On the contrary hydration of pellets obtained from dolostone of Ołdrzychowice runs quickly despite the formation pressure of 200 MPa and sintering temperature of 1650oC. The decarbonated samples obtained from this raw material require higher sintering temperature.
